1984

Take A Look At Me Now;或者Stevie Wonder 的 I Just Called To Say I Love You.

wow, how odd and curious it is to see that all those years ago, kids of my age in Taiwan (and other places politically tied to the US) were hearing the same songs as myself. this is the story of empire, is it not? and how much more amazing that 23 years later, i am also familiar with places such as Hsinchu and Chubei. is the world getting smaller? i am not sure -- perhaps it is getting bigger.

as a political person, i am usually inclined to look on the 80s as a disasterous decade, (the time of Reagan) the beginning of a conservative, selfish period for america. but you remind me that for kids then, there was happiness in the music. i cannot deny that.

Hi Rabert,

The most stunning is that maybe I am going to work in US after October. Maybe I'll walk on the pavement which you walked for thousands of times.

I remember the US presidential campaign of Reagan vs Carter in 1980.
I was an elementary school boy then. I asked one of my classmate: 'Which one you prefer to be the next President of US?'
'Reagan'
Both of us agree on this.

Why?

Why two Taiwanese kids had the same opinion toward the US presidential campaign?

Now you must understand how we are raised by the ex-ruling party, KMT.
