Miscellanea of Pandanus - 2 : Bullet

(The Picture is quoted from "Anyway the wind blows")

Well, I cannot pretend that the world is peaceful, and keep on talking about the pandanus. Yes, I know, I know….the ‘UK Terror Plot’ (five still at large), ‘The Middle East Crisis’. In Taiwan, our President Chen maybe forced to quit because of the public opinion toward his corruption and incompetent.

There is a phrase in Chinese: The wind sweeping through the tower heralds a rising storm in the mountains.

The storm is coming, I can feel that.

OK, let’s talk about pandanus.

The pandanus fruit looks like a pineapple; however, the insides are absolutely different. The pandanus’ fruit can be pulled apart like separated ‘bullets’. We children did use the separated pandanus fruit as bullets. They are hard and bullet-like. We used a long thin bamboo branch to pierce into the soft end of the ‘bullet’, flung the ‘bullet’ away into the sky. The ‘bullet’ would fly far away.

Actually, we did not use the bullet to attack anybody. It’s so hard that you’ll get hurt if it drops on your head.

We usually compete who can throw the ‘bullet’ farthest.

It’s kind of like a game or sport.
